On Saturday, April 29, from 7pm to 9pm, Mayor Minicozzi and the Board of Trustees will be hosting the first art exhibit since renovations were made to the Community Center, 88 Bayville Avenue, to showcase the venue as a center for the visual and performing arts. Artwork created by residents of Bayville will be featured. Such works include large wall murals, framed works on easels, and digital displays. The Bayville Village Arts Council (BVAC) has identified more than 80 artists-in-residence and has been presenting their works at concerts and music club nights as well as at exhibits in the Bayville Historical Museum.
The refurbished Community Center is a great setting for live performances of all types including rock, jazz, country, show tunes, and opera. Starting last year, performances and exhibits were hosted at the Community Center and the warm reception spurred an effort to remodel the space to make it even better for featuring works from young and established artists here in the Village. There are plans in the near future for sculpture and photography exhibits along with more live musical performances covering many genres.
